A Simple Chaos Example

By: Janna Pearman Jacobs

What happens when your mind and body are not in sync? Not aligned? When your mind reacts faster than your body or your body reacts before your mind responds. Lack of alignment of mind and body creates chaos, resulting in injury.

I hate to admit this can happen to me and usually at inopportune times. For example, I’ll run downstairs when rushing to avoid being late – slip and fall. When this occurs, I risk injuring myself and having to go to the hospital for x-rays to make sure nothing is broken, which causes me to miss the appointment I was rushing to make in the first place! Very frustrating.

So, why did this happen? Where does chaos come in? Chaos occurred earlier in the day when I got behind, causing me to rush to my appointment. This is a simple example, but it can be applied to your organization. Chaos puts your business at risk. Why allow your business to face chaos and risk harming itself? Chaos is something to eliminate at all times and in all places. By working to eliminate chaos, you:

  • Align resources with strategic initiatives

  • Increase customer engagement

  • Reduce organizational risk

  • Increase employee commitment
